What are the Masters Indigenous Games?
The 2018 Masters Indigenous Games will be the first event of its kind in North America. These Games will provide an opportunity for Indigenous adults to compete against others around the world. With four age brackets everyone over 20 is welcome!
When do the Masters Indigenous Games take place?
The Masters Indigenous Games will take place in Toronto, Ontario on the dates of July 12 – 15, 2018.
What sports are available for competition?
The sports that will be available for participants to compete in are: archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, canoe (marathon), golf, hockey (ice), lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball.
Who is the Aboriginal Sport and Wellness Council of Ontario?
The Aboriginal Sport and Wellness Council of Ontario is the Provincial Territorial Aboriginal Sport Body (PTASB) for Ontario. With a strong history of hosting major events including: the 2017 North American Indigenous Games, 2016 National Aboriginal Hockey Championship and 2016 Ontario Aboriginal Summer Games, ASWCO is well prepared to host the Masters Indigenous Games.
Are there tryouts?
No, this is an inclusive event designed to maximize participation. Unlike the North American Indigenous Games, there is no contingent that anyone must compete under. Numerous teams from the same area can be entered and anyone can enter a team with Indigenous athletes from around the world.
Venue locations and scheduling?
The majority of venues will be at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario. There are some sport competitions that will be held offsite, however they will typically be within a 10-30 minute driving distance of Downsview Park. Schedules will be released after the final roster deadline has occurred. For more information, please check the Sport Technical Package.
Are teams responsible for their own uniforms?
Yes, teams must provide their own competition uniforms. If required, a basic uniform for teams can be provided at an additional cost (all individual registrants in team sports MUST pay this additional cost).
What are the gender divisions? Will there be co-ed based play?
Currently, there will only be male and female competition categories for the majority of sports, with the exception of badminton and canoe. If there is sufficient interest, co-ed categories may be added on a sport-by-sport basis.
When do team rosters need to be submitted?
The final deadline for submitting rosters is May 31, 2018. If your final team roster is not submitted by this time there is no guarantee of availability of space.
Are there a maximum number of individuals on teams?
Each sport has different requirements in terms of athletes per team. Please refer to the Sport Technical Package for more information.
What does the registration fee cover?
Your registration fee provides your sport participation, access to all event areas and a Masters Indigenous Games welcome package!
How do you register teams?
The team captain registers their team and sends invites to their teammates. Teammates will then accept the invitation and register with the team.
In order to reserve a slot for your team, the captain must pay a fee equal to that of 3 participants. This fee is non-refundable.
- On or before September 15, 2017 = $564
- On or before February 28, 2018 = $600
- After February 28, 2018 = $675
Your team must meet the minimum requirements in the Sport Technical Package by May 31, 2018 to be guaranteed a team spot.

What are the age categories for this event?
The age categories are 20-34, 35-44, 45-54 and 55+. You may choose to compete in an age bracket by moving down but not up.
How do I sign up as an individual if I want to play in a team sport?
If you are unable to get a full team together, you may sign up individually and will be placed on a team from a pool of other individual registrants.
Is accommodation or meals provided?
No, your registration fee does not include accommodation or meals. There are options for accommodation available in the “คาสิโนออนไลน์เครดิตฟรี Visitor Information” portion of our website.
Will you be checking status to ensure Indigenous ancestry?
Yes, all participants will be asked to provide proof of their Indigenous ancestry. In Canada that includes: Status Cards, Metis Registration Numbers, and other accepted documents. For international Indigenous participants, the form of identification is considered sufficient in each country will be accepted.
Can you participate in more than one sport?
No, unfortunately due to the condensed timelines of this event (3 days of competition), there is no guarantee that schedules will not conflict.
Do you have a refund policy?
The Masters Indigenous Games 2018 (MIG 2018) will provide full refunds to any participants requesting such refund in writing, until June 28, 2018 – two weeks before the start of the Games.
This policy, a common practice among multi-sport events, was created to ensure the integrity of MIG 2018. Facility rentals, officiating assignments, and other resources have been paid by the MIG 2018 Organizing Committee.
